How To Create Top of Mind Awareness (TOMA) in 20 Minutes a Week!
Creating top of mind awareness for most small business owners is not rocket science and its not expensive. It takes repetition and consistency – here’s one idea that’s powerful and can really increase your TOMA score.
P.S. Sorry I have not been posting as much, it’s been really busy. I’m publishing a new book (MESSY Manager) and I’ve been speaking with bestselling author Gerry Robert at his various events – it’s been awesome!
Interesting video showing the benefits of VIRAL Marketing…
This video may be funny and amusing but cold calls, door-to-door selling and other “tree shaking methods” are no fun and those aren’t very amusing. This video has a lot to offer.

Have you heard of Narrowband Marketing? (it can boost sales like a rocket…)

The Concept of Narrowband Marketing
By JOE MANNA on SEPTEMBER 9, 2010
I’m going to share an interesting and useful concept for you known as narrowband marketing. It very much covers how marketers today need to act in order to maintain relevance to their customers and prospects. This concept is something that I believe every small business needs to adopt in order to be successful at marketing without being evil. The best part is, some of you are already doing it.
Narrowband marketing is the concept of tailoring a marketing campaign specific to a recipient’s interest. More explicitly, it results in longer-term relationships, better conversions, minimal complaints and increased loyalty. No, it doesn’t relate to whether you dial-up or use cable for your Internet service … (who dials up anymore?!)
As opposed to broadband marketing, narrowband is about being narrow, select, exclusive and relevant. Broadband marketing is appropriate in certain situations, but don’t expect to earn any loyalty or respect from your recipients. Broadband limits how select and intimate you can be with your subscribers.
Revitalize Your Business…Almost Overnight!
by Gerry Robert
It’s a certain fact…business is more competitive than it’s ever been!
To stay alive in these uncertain times, you can’t just offer a quality product at a fair price…you have to know how to market effectively. You should demand that you get the best results from every dime you drop into marketing! Unfortunately, most businesses have no idea of how to get the most out of every marketing "dollar" that they spend.
SURE-FIRE METHOD #1: Focus on your prospect’s needs and not on yourself.
Does this seem too obvious? Look through your yellow pages. Answer this question: Are they focused on the
seller or buyer?
Ninety-five percent of the ads are likely totally focused on the business and not on what the business can do for YOU, the prospect!
Take a look at the ads in the newspapers, on the TV, listen to the radio or pull up virtually any website. It’s the same type of drivel.
Your selfishness is what kills most of your marketing. From brochures to flyers, and sales letters to advertisements, your marketing message should let your prospects know that you are concerned ONLY WITH WHAT THEY WANT!
Anything about you should always come last.
Until your marketing efforts focus on the prospects’ wants, your marketing is handicapped.
SURE-FIRE METHOD #2: FIGURE OUT THE NEEDS AND WANTS OF YOUR PROSPECTS

Black Card Marketing Group’s DIFY Client Ranks First Page of Google, Twice!
After only 4 days of activating David Griffith Custom Renovations Blog (he focuses on kitchen and bath renovations, Richmond VA) we did a bit of research and found David’s Custom Renovations Blog was ranking first page on two separate searches and also a third search was ranking on the third page of Google which will likely move to the first page of Google soon enough!
Here are some screen captures.
This picture is for “Bathroom Renovations Richmond VA” and his rank is currently third page – not bad since the blog has only been live for four days!
This screen capture is really powerful with our DIFY web assets ranking on six of 12 possible rankings on the first page of Google. That’s 50% dominance!! The search terms are “David Griffith custom renovations”. This is what people will type if they know of David and want to find him (people don’t use the yellow book much anymore).
Here’s the third screen capture which is for search terms “david griffith renovations”. Because he’s a small business owner, many people know him by his name and that’s what they will search. They also know he’s a renovator so they’ll add that to the search term. If they type this, after only four days, David Griffith’s has a double ranking (which means Google LOVES YOU!) on the first page of Google.
USE THE MOST ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY AVAILABLE TO SALESPEOPLE
by Gerry Robert

L.I.S.T.E.N. Or else!
A positive chap this Mr. Chan! I’m good friends with his former boss the legendary Colonel Izaidin. He said that he wanted to teach his salespeople to listen. “I here you teach salespeople about listening?” “I sure do!” I responded, “I wrote a book on that one subject. How important do you think it is for the success of salespeople?” He said without even a second’s hesitation, “It’s everything!” He was right about that fact. I was delighted when he told me his company, Berjaya Prudential started a company-wide campaign based on this one crucial topic.
What made me so happy was that here was an already successful company looking to develop more effectively its salespeople in this important skill. So many companies want to teach their salespeople to manipulate customers with the latest “Motivational psycho-babble” out of California. Too bad!
Sure some of those tricks work but you can forget about long-term relationships, trust, referrals and re-orders if you start using those silly so-called “persuasion” gimmicks. Don’t you hate it when others try to use them on you?
I often ask people “How would you describe a salesperson.” You might not like what they tell me. “Salespeople are so pushy.” Or, “They are slick talkers.” They tell me that what they dislike the most about salespeople is that they never shut up. This brings me back to Mr. Chan.
Quick Google SEO Tip
I’ve used this little trick and its worked really well for me in the past.
Instead of just going to your blog directly, do this. Go to Google.com and search your “first name last name” so for me in the search box I would put JG Francoeur.
Now your blog may rank on the first page. If its not yet don’t worry about it it’s coming! After you’ve found your blog on the Google search results, click the URL. So instead of clicking directly on your blog url, go through Google and this will help because it’s extra clicks for you.
It’s not a “revolutionary tip” but it’s a quick tip and it will help your Google ranking.
How to Form Joint-Ventures and Build Your Business
Joint-Ventures (JVs) are an awesome way to build your business and gain additional exposure. What I like best about JVs is it gets people leaning forward and because JVs typically have a “referral component” it shortens up the sales cycle.
For example, in working our prospects we typically have a four to five day sales cycle but when it comes from a JV source and its accompanied by a referral the sales cycle can be as short as one to two days. That makes a huge difference when you’re pumping out a lot of deals.
The downside of JVs is they take a bit longer to setup because you have setup the JV, figure out exactly the best way to work together and to add value to each other’s business and then penetrate their client list with your offer which takes a bit longer.
However, that being said, once the JV is setup you can have a PHENOMENAL source of prospects for a very long time to come.
Examples:
I have a friend who’s in the mortgage business and he setup five different JV sources and that made him the #2 mortgage specialist in his district. All he did was approach real estate agents and told them they should establish a mutually-beneficial relationship where they can refer business to each other. He referred them business and they referred him business. From scratch he created a six figure income for himself which took a few months.
DIFY Client dominates 33% of the first page of Google
The keywords “Tips on How to Create Lasting Wealth” showed up with 17,500,000 (that’s million) results and our DIFY Client is dominating the first page of Google with four of the 12 links pointing to her blog or capture pages.
Can we do better? Absolutely! We can dominate the first 4 links or we can increase the links to six or eight of 12 and that’s exactly what will happen over time.
Check out the image below and you’ll see for yourself.
